mountain strong
In September 2024 a category 4 hurricane named Helene ravaged the region of Western North Carolina and East Tennessee. It washed away entire towns and and triggered landslides that buried homes and businesses. While headlines have faded quickly, the devastating effects of this disaster have not.
inspiration
I wrote "Mountain Strong" as a tribute to the people of Appalachia who were affected by this disaster. I wanted to write a song that embodied the strength and resilience of the Appalachian people. In a time of so much grief and loss I wanted to send a message of hope. That no matter what hits us - floods, landslides, wildfires - we can survive it all. Together we are mountain strong.

Mountain Strong has become more than just a song - it has become a movement. Our mission is to raise awareness about the challenges faced by communities still in the process of rebuilding.
